Guardians vs Yankees

Today’s Starting Bankroll: $1,890.90 (Yesterday’s Bets)

If you missed the Guardians vs Yankees last night you missed probably missed the best pennant race related game this season. If your a Guardians fan like myself, it felt like a must win after having just got swept by the Milwaukee Brewers.

In an electrifying 12th inning, pinch-hitter Lane Thomas ignited a six-run surge that propelled the Cleveland Guardians to a 9-5 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. The game, which was the longest in Major League Baseball this season, showcased the Guardians’ resilience and ability to perform under pressure.

Lets talk about the Guardians vs Yankees from the perspective of betting the Over 8, like I took yesterday. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge gave the Yankees an early lead with back-to-back homers in the first inning, but Cleveland responded quickly, and the game was tied at 3 after four innings.

It looked at this point that the Over 8 was going to be an easy winner. You know, every time my mind goes to that spot, “easy winner” its like the sports betting gods need to humble me quickly.

Despite numerous chances, both offenses were stifled with no runs but luckily in our days of extra baseball that means we get to start with a RISP (Ghost Runner) to open up the 10th inning.

Let me point out how furious I was at this point with the Guardians and Yankees having left a combined 20 baserunners on through the 9 innings. I mean the Guardians had nearly 14 themselves.

Nonetheless, I knew that with extra innings in sight we had a chance to get some runs. If you want to talk about an absolute sweat this was one.

Top of 10 – Rocchio reached on a bunt single which moved Bo Naylor over to 3rd. Rocchio then stole 2nd base which put both RISP with no outs. Kwan struck out, they intentionally walked Ramirez and Josh Naylor grounded into a double play. C’mon.

Bottom of 10th – Soto lead off with a ground out putting Torres at 3rd with less than two outs meaning a sacrifice fly would squash the Over. Judge was intentionally walked and Clase was able to get pinch-hitter Grisham to foul out to first. Verdugo then grounded out to second and my bet was saved for yet another inning.

Top of 11 – Not much action but with two outs a wild pitch put Freeman on third but Schneemann grounded out to first to end the top half of the inning. Yet another runner LOB.

Bottom of 11th – Wells lined out to Center that allowed Verdugo to tag and head to 3rd. Again, with a runner on 3rd with less than two outs a sacrifice fly would lose the Over 8. Tim Herrin intentionally walked Volpe. He then was able to strike out LeMahieu and get Cabrera to fly out to center ending the inning.

Top of 12th – This is where the fun began. Lane Thomas, who had been struggling with a .113 average (6 for 53) in 16 games with the Guardians, stepped up when it mattered most. Batting for Bo Naylor to lead off the 12th, Thomas lined a 2-2 sinker from Yankees left-hander Tim Mayza into right field, bringing home automatic runner Daniel Schneemann from second.

This gave the Guardians a 4-3 lead which gave me a lot of hope because at the very least a single in the bottom half of the 12th by the Yankees would guarantee the bet won. It did not come to that.

Jose Ramírez followed with an RBI single, and after a walk to Tyler Freeman, David Fry delivered a bases-loaded triple that extended Cleveland’s lead to 8-3.

The bet was won and the Guardians went on to win 9-5. A double win in my book picking up a profit for the day and a Guardians win.

This was an epic Guardians vs Yankees showdown and the best thing is we still have two more games left in the series.

The pennant race is in full swing with just around 30 more games remaining in the MLB season. I would highly recommend that you tune into the Guardians vs Yankees series for the next couple of days as this may be a preview of the ALCS in October.

Day #20 Recap

$200 ➡️ $200K Challenge Bet: Philadelphia Phillies -1.0

  • Reynaldo Lopez just threw an absolute gem. Five innings, ten strikeouts. Bullpen did there job and came in and shutdown the Phillies with four innings giving up no hits. Just on the wrong side here.

Bodo/Glimt vs Crvena Zvezda Over 3

  • This looked like a loss after the first 45 minutes which was really frustrating. Bodo/Glimt had 75% possession and 8 goal attempts but nothing really near target.
  • Things looked brighter when they scored in the 52′ and 62′ taking a 2-0 lead. Crvena Zvezda got one back in the 75′ and we had a quarter hour to find a winner.
  • It was not to be had, but a push is better than a loss.

Noah vs MFK Ruzomberok 1st Half Over .5/1

  • Four minutes into this match we were already free rolling our bet. Unfortunately a second goal did not show us despite Noah having 12 goal attempts and 5 SOG.

Guardians vs Yankees Over 8

  • Today’s blog was about this matchup, if you want the details of the sweat scroll up. Lucky to have won, but deserved to win.

Parlay of the Day: 2+ RBI’s

  • CJ Abrams: 1-4, 1 RBI
  • Gleyber Torres: 0-4, 0 RBI’s
  • Jonathan India: 2-5, 0 RBI’s

Day #20 Profit/Loss: + $19.19

What I Learned:

Extra Innings Give Bettors Advantage: Before the time where there was no ghost runner starting on second base the thought of taking a 3-3 game into extra innings would crush any over you had. With the inception of the added runner to start each half inning I think it has given a small advantage for bettors over the sportsbooks. As we saw in the Guardians vs Yankees matchup last night there were 8 runs scored in extras and if you look at most extra inning games I would say that most don’t always just end with 1 run being scored like the old days.
