Today’s Starting Bankroll: $1,910.12 (Yesterday’s Bets)

Three plays into the Cleveland Browns Preseason Week 1 matchup vs the Green Bay Packers I looked at my 7-month old daughter and said… “Welcome to the Fucking Show”.

Let me just preface this blog with the following:

  • Yes, I know that this is Preseason Week #1
  • Yes, I know that the offensive starters were not on the field for the Cleveland Browns.
  • Yes, I know for the most part the defensive starters other than Emerson were no on the field for the Cleveland Browns.
  • Yes, I know that Jordon Love the Green Bay Packers starting QB with just signed a huge contract played the first series.
  • Yes, I know that none of these games matter and for the most part this is just overreaction

But, here is something else that I know. The Cleveland Browns have broken my heart for 40 years so why should I have optimism that anything different is going to happen this season.

The only difference this season, or as I call it “Year 40 of Heartbreak”, is that I can now enjoy it with my daughter who honestly put up more TD’s in her diaper than the Cleveland Browns put on the field yesterday.

So where should we start, how about where we always start when we deal with the Cleveland Browns at the QB.

Can someone explain to me why we felt as an organization the need to bring in Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley? If you would like to have a QB position battle with Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) than just bring in one of those guys. But, to bring in both really just wastes reps that DTR could get in these preseason games.

DTR is not only a deserving backup QB for the Cleveland Browns, but he is the only one on the field that looks decent. If I am speaking honestly I still believe that he should be the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns and that should have happened since the day he was signed.

DTR ended up 14/18 for 134 and was the only person who could move the ball against the Packers defense yesterday. I guess you can include Winston with his 4/5 opening drive that lead to a field goal, but if you give that guy any more than 5 passes in a game we all know that it will lead to multiple interceptions.

I don’t want to be all negative as it is preseason, so, lets talk about a few positives outside of DTR that I think we should be proud of as Cleveland Browns fans.

Cade York – This guy kicks a 55-yard field goal and just like that I feel like we have our Phil Dawson, or Matt Stover back in the saddle and we no longer need to worry about FG’s or Extra Points.

Kevin Stefanski – I really don’t have anything in particular to praise him for in this game. I just know that we were never in a situation for him to fuck up the play call or mismanage timeouts so I am going to call that a win in my book.

David Njoku – Now he did not play in the game, however, if you caught his sideline interview you will understand why he is a win this week. He had a very dry humor about “consultant” Mike Vrabel that was absolutely hilarious.

So, yea, we had some wins and definitely some losses this week in the Cleveland Browns preseason matchup with the Packers. Including a huge loss at the center position with Luke Wypler to a leg injury in the 2nd quarter after being carted off the field with a air cast on his leg.

Let me just say this:

Being a Cleveland Browns fan isn’t just about the wins and losses, it’s about the ride. Sure, it’s been 40 years of heartbreak, but it’s also been 40 years of hope, of belief, and of sticking by a team that never gives up—no matter how many times they stumble.

This season, I’ve got a new reason to keep the faith, even when it feels like we’re destined for more of the same. Watching the game with my daughter, I realized something important: the Browns might break my heart, but they also bring a lot of joy, even in the most unexpected ways.

So here’s to another season of believing, of hoping, and of passing on the tradition—because no matter what happens, there’s always something special about being a Cleveland Browns fan.

Welcome to the fucking show, indeed.

Day #10 Recap

$200 ➡️ $200K Challenge Bet: Gleyber Torres Over 1.5 HRR

  • Torres went 1-5 so you might have thought that we were going to have to sweat this out, or maybe we lost this bet from that box score. We did not.
  • Torres in the 1st inning singled in Soto and we cashed this bet less than 7 minutes into the game.

Salford City vs Port Vale Over 2.5

  • We got lucky in this one near the end of the 1st half where Port Vale was able to nick a goal and take a 1-0 lead at halftime.
  • Garrity scored for Port Vale in the 69′ and with the home team in their opener not wanting to be embarrassed we felt great about our chances to get a third by final whistle.
  • Well, Salford City just managed 1 shot all 2nd half and in the end took an embarrassing loss at home to open the season.

Leyton Orient vs Bolton Over 2.5

  • Having lost our first bet of the day we looked to hopefully grab an easy winner here in League One. It sure looked like it would be with both teams picking up a goal before the 39′.
  • Then, a bit of a sweat as Leyton who had 4 shots in the second half seemed like they were destined to be denied a goal. Bolton though came through in the 75′ minute on what was their only SOG in the second half.

Yordan Alvarez Over 2.5 HRR

  • If you look the definition of an easy winner up in the dictionary, this is the bet you will find.
  • Alvarez hit a solo HR in the three hole in the Top of the 1st inning cashing over 2.5 HRR immediately. On the day he went 2-4 with 7 HRR’s.

League One Over 2.5 Goals Parlay

  • I will say that this was not terrible for the first match day of the season.
  • Birmingham vs Reading: 2 Goals
  • Bristol Rovers vs Northampton: 1 Goal
  • Peterborough vs Huddersfield: 2 Goals
  • Stockport vs Cambridge: 2 Goals

Day #10 Profit/Loss: +$25.56

What I Learned:

Easy Winners Are Nice: Watching a full game as a sports fan is always a joy. However, when you have a bet on the game or match, an easy winner is something that I would prefer rather than having to sweat out something for 2-3 hours. The Alvarez bet was a nice example of something that I wish as a sports bettor you can recreate as much as possible.

Soccer/Football is Back: I think that in the United States we take for granted the amount of great soccer or football that is around the world. This weekend kicked off all of the EFL Championship leagues starting back up with the Premier League kicking off next Saturday. On top of all the English leagues I would recommend looking at La Liga, Ligue One, Bundesliga and Serie A.
