Starting Bankroll -$1,008.92 (Yesterday’s Bets)

Day one of my journey to becoming a professional sports bettor, and I’m already 1-0. Maybe this will be easier than I thought… Ha!

Day #1 Recap:

  • I started my journey on the same day as the 2024 NFL Hall of Fame Game, so naturally, my first bet was on the game. I took the Texans/Bears Over 31.5 points.
  • It looked like an easy win with a 17-14 score at halftime, but then it turned into a race against the clock for one more point before the rain hit Canton, OH.
  • Thankfully, the Bears scored another touchdown, and I cashed in just before the game was called due to local thunderstorms.
  • Banked: $8.92

Key Takeaways:

  • Houston Texans: This team is stacked at the WR position. With the addition of Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills alongside Tank Dell, Robert Woods, and John Metchie, this offense is going to be unstoppable with C.J. Stroud throwing the pigskin. Don’t be surprised if the Texans’ Overs are set near 56.5 points almost every game.
  • Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams might be a great QB, but I think the Bears will end up leaning on their backfield, featuring D’Andre Swift, Khalil Herbert, and Roschon Johnson. The Bears’ backfield averaged 5.7 yards per carry against the Texans.
  • NFL Betting: I almost lost this one because I didn’t check the weather. It’s inexcusable not to know the Canton, OH weather, especially when my house is in the pathway of those thunderstorms. I need to spend a couple of minutes making sure I check game conditions.
