Not that Monday Night Football….that one starts in a few weeks.
This is Proper Monday Night Football.
After a quick pit stop in the Championship, Leicester City are back in the Premier League and ready to make some noise. Their return kicks off with a Monday Night Football showdown against Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s shaping up to be quite the clash.
If you remember in my bold Premier League Predictions that I put out a couple days ago one of the boldest was that I think that Tottenham will finally break through and win the Premier League.
The fact that they are only 25/1 this season to win it all tells me that the bookmakers think this can be done…maybe. I mean Tottenham to win the the Premier League are better odds than the Cleveland Browns to win the Super Bowl. That is not saying much though, and if they want any chance to do so it must start with a point on Monday Night Football.
Tottenham, under their new Aussie mastermind Ange Postecoglou, were a joy to watch last season, lighting up the league with their attacking flair. Expect more of the same this season, with plenty of goals on the menu as long as they have no season ending or prolonged injuries.
On the other hand, Leicester are coming into this season with a point to prove. They’re one of the bookies’ favorites to go back down, but new manager Steve Cooper isn’t here to play it safe. The Foxes are longshots for this match, with odds as high as 5.0 to snag all three points on Monday night, but stranger things have happened in football.
I mean if you watched some of the results from this past weekend although most matches went in the way of favorites I think we can all agree that Fulham pushed Manchester United to the brink in what would have been a disappointing loss for United fans. However, Man U found a goal late for a 1-0 victory.
As Monday Night Football makes its much-anticipated return, for the next few weeks till the NFL Monday Night Football starts I will be breaking down the Premier League stand alone matches.
So, buckle up for what promises to be a thrilling return to Premier League action under the Monday night lights!
Day #18 Recap
$200 ➡️ $200K Challenge Bet: Jose Ramirez Over 2.5 HRR
- The Cleveland Guardians only managed 2 hits in this game against Rea and the Brewers bullpen. None of them were by Ramirez. Even if both were we still would not have covered this bet as there were no runs or RBI’s in the game for Cleveland either.
- The Guardians just got swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and now face only a 2 game lead in the AL Central with the Twins and Royals hot on their tails.
Verona vs Napoli Over 2.5
- We started off the day with a winner thanks to Verona shocking Napoli 3-0 with the last goal coming in the final minutes of play. All three goals actually came in the 2nd half as well.
- I will tell you this was extremely lucky as we had Napoli scoring at least two goals to help get us over this total and they could just not put the ball in the net. Buyer be warned on Napoli this season, hopefully this was just first game jitters.
Cagliari vs Roma Over 2.5
- The Serie A shockers continued to effect us mid-day as Cagliari shocked Roma by managing a draw 0-0. With both teams combined to have over 2 xG in this match I still do not know how both teams were kept off the scoreboard.
- Roma appeared to put a late goal in but it was waved for offside and we ended up losing this one quite easily.
Mallorca vs Real Madrid Over 2.5
- If we were lucky grabbing a late goal in the Serie match with Verona the sports betting gods evened things out with this La Liga match.
- Real Madrid scored early in the 13′ and it looked like our prediction was going to come to fruition. Especially when Mallorca tied things up 1-1 in the 53′.
- With Real Madrid heavily favored in this match we thought this was exactly what we needed as there was no way that it ended 1-1.
- Guess what…it ended 1-1. Real Madrid just could not get that elusive second goal and we end another day with disappointment.
$200 ➡️ $200K Challenge Bet:
- Jesus Sanchez: 0-3, 0 RBI’s
- Ryan Mountcastle: 0-3, 0 RBI’s
- Julio Rodriguez: 1-5, 0 RBI’s
Day #18 Profit/Loss: -$30.54
What I learned:
Changing of the Guard: Two teams that I would not have pegged to lose or draw in their first match of the season would have been Napoli and Real Madrid. Being a Monday morning QB I will overreact that these results have season failure written all over them. That is an extreme but I do think that some of these clubs are starting to get closer and closer to what were once power houses with Serie A and La Liga. I am going to keep a careful eye on what they do in Week 2, but, lets also remember they both opened their seasons on the road.
